And so...

... with the quickness I'll try to explain. Dave's insurance says, "You must go." So, home is the only option. I hope anyone reading this never has to actually understand what goes on with insurance companies and the care that you hope your loved ones get, but, probably you will at some point.
With ten-ish days left in skilled care, Sharon has been scrambling to prepare their house for a homecoming. Sharon's dad Dave has been dutifully renovating the first floor of the D Bizzle-DeBerdizzle residence to be handi-capable. Sharon needs a ramp built to her (& his) front porch, "durable equipment" (meaning lifts, beds, wheelchair... etc), & also General Support.
You may wonder, "General Support"?
Yes indeed. Your glad tidings always lift their spirits & make it possible to carry on. Without the constant feedback Dave probably wouldn't be in touch with half the people he hears from today.
If you read this & think your response isn't important, you're stupid. Respond in the "comments" section of this blog. Do it. Do it.
Dave, Sharon, & all can't wait to hear from everyone!!

  4. Dave,

Hi. I've been reading and reading all the blogs. I even kept up on your progress through Amy during the month of March as my daughter was having physical therapy at Amy's work. I don't know what we would have done without it. Amy is a wonderful source of information and I bet she can get you some exercise routines. What ever you can do -- do it! Just because insurance is call it quits -- you can't. Be strong and know that our family prays for you. All my love - Cousin Diane

  5. Hang in there Dave!! Progress may be slow, but you have a wonderful family and friends supporting you!!

"When things go wrong as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all up hill,
When the funds are low and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As every one of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about
    When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow--
You may succeed with another blow,
Success is failure turned inside out--
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
    It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit--
It's when things seem worst that you must not quit."

  8. Unfortunately I know all to well how the insurance companies dictate the medical field, as if their the ones that have the Ph.d's. Don't get me started. I also know bout making a place accessible so I can lead some tips or knowledge. As always I'm thinking about you all. Keep up the humor its important. All my love Shauna

  9. Matt,
Thanks again for the update. Just to update you (and perhaps Sharon/Dave if they have not read my email that I sent on Monday)-I was successful in tracking down (after talking to a billion people), some assistance for Dave and Sharon when he gets home through Monroe County. A case worker is planning on visiting Dave at Lake Ariel and setting up some kind of plan that will probably take effect in late June (there is a wait). So-hopefully this is a bit of good news for them.
    Hope

  11. Dave & Sharon,

Keep you sprits up, there is no place like home. Like someone else posted, just because the insurance company is giving up, doesn't mean you can Dave! Keep fighting like you have been, you have our support from the west!

  12. I have been wanting to respond to all the updates, but I just dont know what I can say that everyone else hasn't already said, but I guess its just time to go ahead and post something.

Get well soon Dave because theres obviously alot of people that are pulling for you. Look at all the former co-workers here, some you might not have seen for years posting, wondering how you are doing. You must have left a good impression on people if they are coming here to check up on you hoping to read everything is going well. I know I am.

I dont know if Katie ever told you when she worked at Mt. Airy every week when I first saw her I would be asking for a Dave Barry update.

So keep giving it your all and before you know it you can be back doing what you love doing most... inventory at Skytop haha

    Hope to see you soon,

    Joe Cassidy

  14. Dave and Sharon,

I've been following the blog for sometime now, and I have read every word going back to the start. Insurance companies seem to be in charge of our lives at this point, but I am sure that being home with Sharon and your dogs will mean alot to you. Just remember that every set back is a set up for a great come back. Just know that you have many, many people praying and pulling for you. You have so many friends. Hang in there, both of you.

    Dot D.
